Internship Opportunities

Programming Intern

The Programming Intern is a competitive role and best suited for self-starting, creative, hard-working, passionate students looking to gain invaluable hands-on experience in the fields of (but not limited to): nonprofit operations, administration, resource management, community outreach, program development and social media content.

  • Must be at least 18-years old with a valid drivers license
  • Horse experience encouraged but not required
  • Upper-class undergraduate or graduate student preferred but not required
  • Some weekend availability

Seasonal Positions

Equine Therapist

The Equine Therapist is responsible for executing safe and effective Horsey House Calls and managing all horse-related elements of the Horsey House Call day. They must be comfortable being in charge of seasonal staff, the horse, volunteers and any participants during the Horsey House Call visit.

  • Seasonal, part-time, paid per Horsey House Call visit
  • Must be 18 or older
  • Extensive horse experience required
  • Must be comfortable driving a truck with a horse trailer
  • Required training through Camp Casey
  • Current proof of CPR/First Aid Certification

Ranch Hand

The Ranch Hand is responsible for assisting the Equine Therapist in every way necessary to execute safe and effective Horsey House Call and manage all horse-related elements of the day.
  • Seasonal, part-time, paid per Horsey House Call
  • Moderate horse experience required
  • Current proof of CPR/First Aid Certification

Activity Leader

The Activity Leader leads age appropriate crafts, interactive games, and ensures that all participants are fully engaged for the duration of the Horsey House Call visit. The Activity Leader brings the fun and enthusiasm, while keeping the Horsey House Call organized and safe for everyone!
  • Seasonal, part-time
  • Paid per Horsey House Call
  • No horse experience required
  • Outgoing personality, engaging and good with children
    • Excellent for students or teachers on summer vacation!

Hero Herd Horse

The Hero Herd Horse is the star of our Horsey House Call program! Our horses are paid per visit. We look for horses that:
  • Load/unload into Camp Casey’s trailer with ease
  • Are calm and at ease in new/strange environments
  • Have weekend availability
  • Tolerate a therapeutic riding surcingle (TRS)
  • Stand still well
